JAPAN eVISA Privacy Policy
1 Basic concept
The Consular Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan will handle your information provided to "JAPAN eVISA," hereinafter referred to as "this site" appropriately within the scope of the purpose of use.
2 Scope of personal information to be managed
(1) This site manages provided personal information such as name, date of birth, address, passport information, etc. in Japan.
(2) The provided information will be properly managed in accordance with the provisions of the Public Records and Archives Management Act and the Visa Administrative Processing Regulations, and will be deleted once the retention period stipulated in the right provision has expired. Visas information provided to transportation companies, etc. will be deleted the day after the expiration date and the provision of said information will be suspended.
In addition, this site uses cookies (information sent from the server to the user and stored in the user's computer in order to uniquely identify the user on the server side), but the purpose of this is to maintain communication (session) with the user, and is not used to collect information such as gathering the number of visits to this site nor to collect information to identify a user.
3 Purpose of use
Any personal information filled in this application form as well as additional personal information submitted for the visa application (hereinafter referred to as "Retained Personal Information”) will be handled appropriately by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (including Japanese overseas establishments) in accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Act No. 57 of 2003, hereinafter, “the Act”). Retained Personal Information will only be used to the extent necessary for the purpose of processing visa applications that include online payment of visa fees (including the case providing personal information to the transportation company which you are going to travel with, or the alternative transportation company which you are going to travel with due to unforeseen circumstances), immigration control, and international cooperation.
4 Restrictions on use and provision
The provided information will not be used for purposes other than above mentioned "3 Purpose of use" or will not be provided to a third party, except when there is a request for disclosure based on laws and regulations or when it is provided in accordance with Article 69 of the Act. However, statistically aggregated information may be published.
5 Measures to ensure safety
The Consular Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will take measures to prevent leakage, loss or damage of the collected information and other necessary measures for appropriate management of the collected information. The operation of this site may be outsourced, and the contractor will also take measures to properly manage the collected information.
6 Disclosure of personal information
Applicants can request for disclosure of personal information about themselves regarding the "retained personal information" stipulated by laws.
7 Scope
This policy applies only to this site and does not apply to other sites linked to this site.
8 Others
The Consular Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs may revise this policy. We will inform of any changes made to the policy on this site.
